Burning Questions

I’m a bit fired up as I write this.

My wife and I did a one hour Zoom call this morning with two of our dearest lifelong friends. They moved from California to Tennessee a few years ago and love being there. They are a bit frustrated, however. They are experiencing the same thing in “red” state Tennessee as we often do in “blue” state Minnesota.

There is a general lack of collaboration among so-called conservative/ patriot and/or Christian groups. There is little to no unity, particularly of message. There’s a tremendous sense of ego-driven “leaders” who operate in the silo of isolation in “their” territory with “their” group. And little to nothing changes.

It’s the story of the well-oiled machine. It doesn’t do anything, but it keeps on humming along.

In the meantime, the enemies of God, family, church, and country continue to take ground. Even in so-called “red” states. This must stop!

And that leads to more of why the conversation with my friends fired me up.

My friends talked about one of my favorite verses from the Bible, Proverbs 29:2. It tells us “When the righteous rule (or govern), the people rejoice. When the wicked (or foolish) rule (or govern), the people groan.”

If the righteous are not governing where you live, why not?

Who rules on your school boards, library boards, city councils and county commissions? Who serves in your state or federal offices? Who do you elect?

Do you do your duty as a Biblical citizen and vote?

Which begs another hot button issue that my friends in Tennessee share with us in Minnesota. Indeed, they share this concern with church-going Americans in all 50 states.

Where are the pastors? Where are our nation’s spiritual leaders?

Apparently, many American Christians are asking this question.

It was about 5 years ago that we first shared information from George Barna Research that told us that American church-goers are begging their pastors to teach them what the Bible has to say about cultural issues. (You can find the report at FRC.org in the Biblical Worldview section.)

In summary, the report tells us that there are 8 major issues Americans want their pastors to address. Of the top 8 issues, 91% wanted help on Issue #1 – Life; 71% wanted help on Issue #8 – Islam. The other six fell in between those two. Americans want to know what the Bible says about real life issues so they can teach, respond and live with Biblical values and accuracy.

How did their pastors respond to their requests for help?

Only 14% were willing to teach what the Bible says about these issues. Only 14%!!!

How are the righteous to rule if the leaders of American churches refuse to teach what the Bible says about core Biblical/cultural issues and raise up righteous leaders in the process? If the church refuses to raise up righteous leaders, who will do so?

Before you tell me, “Our church doesn’t do politics,” please read the 2-volume, nearly 2,000 page set called “Political Sermons of the American Founding Era, 1730-1805”. Our nation’s government and founding “politicians” (those who practice the art of effective governing), were the result of America’s pulpits!

We are not asking churches to become political machines. We are firmly requesting that churches return to the vision of restoring righteousness in their communities by raising up Christ-centered men and women who God can use to provide Biblically-principled leadership in every part of our culture, including government.

Let’s work together on this. We have a nation that needs Jesus. We have a nation that needs restoration and reformation. We have a nation to save.

Calling for:

A “No King but Jesus” Rally

In YOUR City!

Friday October 17th, 2025

In our Nation, some are loudly proclaiming that we have “No King,” but we declare that our nation only has ONE King – King Jesus!

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! Psalm 33:12

Why? – America remains at a critical point for prayer.

Therefore, let us each gather at our local city halls to corporately reconsecrate ourselves and our Nation under the banner of the kingship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The phrase “No King but King Jesus” dates back to the American Revolution.
