Opening Day of the 2024 Legislative Session Prayer Event

You are invited!!

Next Monday, February 12, 2024 is the opening day of legislative session in Minnesota. Join nearly 20 ministry leaders in the Rotunda from 1:30-2:30 as we pray for our elected leaders, their families and staff.

In preparation for this event, you might want to read and pray over the following scriptures:

A Fresh Revelation of Jesus

On Monday morning, January 22, 2024, I was awakened by the Lord. It had been a very full weekend of worshipping and experiencing the presence of the Lord. I fell asleep Sunday night while I was praying. I was still praying as I awoke Monday morning. That is not normal for me! (Although I could get used to it!)

The Lord awakened me with the following message:

“Of all of the choices you will make today, choose Me. Consecrate yourselves, for I am about to revive and restore Minnesota.”

Not a bad way to wake up!

Shortly after this, I received a text from a former Community Action Team leader who is both a pastor and a state representative. I am preaching at his church, Remnant Church in Brainerd, Minnesota on Feb. 25th. I had decided I would preach on “A Fresh Revelation of Jesus” and include the picture I was given by a former state representative during a legislator’s Bible study of a fireball of God’s revival hitting the dome of our state capitol building. It was a picture we received from a Honduran pastor nearly a decade ago.

At the very moment I was thinking about sharing that picture and its story, the pastor texted me and asked if I would address that exact same picture in my message and share it with his congregation. What a confirmation!

Here’s that story:

I was given a copy of a picture years ago by a former state legislator, Tim Miller, during our weekly legislative Bible study. He told me the story of a picture showing a fireball of revival hitting a state capitol building but couldn’t verify the details. The verification was given to me at a National Security Conference I attended, I think in 2019, by the leader of our statewide intercessory prayer network, Karen Krueger. Her ministry is Call to the Wall.

And then I purchased a book entitled, “Minnesota: The Revival State – Moves of God 1860-1960” and read the following:

A YWAM pastor from Honduras who knows nothing about the capitol buildings in each of our states, had a vision from the Lord over a decade ago. Here’s the actual story:

On January 30, 2015, a group of about 200 Spirit-filled young adults from Central America, South America and the United States were worshipping the Lord at an intensive prophetic training conference in Honduras. During worship, a young man from Honduras named Sergio received a vision of a type of “capitol building” in the United States. He “saw” a “fireball” coming toward the top of this government building, though the “fireball” had not yet hit the building. At the top of the building was a large dome with a “gold” object at the peak of the dome. And “gold” statues near the base of the dome. The young man, Sergio, described the “fireball” as the “fire of God”.

Sergio and his wife, Melissa, run a Youth with a Mission base in Honduras. As he described the vision to his wife, she thought the building could be the U.S. Capitol. She used her phone to find a picture of the U.S. Capitol building, but he said that it was not the building that he saw in the vision. As Sergio described the building further to his wife who is from Minnesota, she thought the building sounded like the Minnesota State Capitol. She pulled up a picture of this building on her phone and Sergio said that the Minnesota State Capitol building was the government building in his vision. Sergio has never visited Minnesota. Sergio then used his artistic ability to draw the vision in a sketchbook while referring to the picture of the Minnesota State Capitol Building on his wife Melissa’s phone.

(Pastor Bob and Sue Rampi from the Twin Cities were in attendance as was Karin Basinger whose home city is Alexandria. Karin’s mother, Robin Johnson from Alexandria, made cards of the picture drawing of the vision.)

This above story is copied from pages 435 & 436 of the book “Minnesota: The Revival State – Moves of God 1860-1960” by Dale Gilmore. In addition, Karen Krueger and another friend, Linda Holmes, who helped edit the book, are referenced in the book for their contributions.

While there are several implications to all of this which I will address over the next several weeks and months as I speak to our Community Action Teams and other outside groups, please remember the following:

1.  When Jesus said from the cross, “It is finished,” victory over sin and death was declared.

2.  When Jesus was resurrected from the grave, victory over sin and death and the offer of a new quality of life to all who will believe was confirmed.

3.  When the scriptures tell us in the very final book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation, that Jesus is King and He reigns, that is a current reality, not just a future promise.

Remember: We are not fighting today’s battles hoping for victory. We are fighting today’s battles from victory. We have already won and to God belongs all the credit and glory.

I look forward to visiting all the Community Action Teams (see below) in the coming months. Until then, please remain in prayer about these words from the Lord:

“Of all of the choices you will make today, choose Me. Consecrate yourselves for I am about to revive and restore Minnesota.”

After a short stay in Athens, we will take time in the city of Corinth and be near to the village from which my great-grandfather came by himself as a 12 year-old boy to make a life in America. We hope to identify and visit his village.
